Why does a TikTok have no transcript?

The transcript comes from TikTok's own captions. Videos without speech (music clips, photo slideshows), some very new videos and some videos in less common languages don't have captions, so there's nothing to show yet.

Can I translate a TikTok transcript to English?

Yes, for free. Most non-English TikToks come with an English translation of their captions: press Translate to English (free) above the transcript, or pick the language in the menu.

Which links work?

Public video links like https://www.tiktok.com/@user/video/123... and short links from the share menu (vm.tiktok.com/...). Private or deleted videos can't be transcribed.
